STUDY: Glasses Make Dogs Appear Smarter

It’s a commonly known fact that glasses make all people look smarter.  But did you know that the same effect can be applied to dogs?  According to a new study from Hawaii Pacific University, glasses make most dog breeds appear 47% smarter on average, while only 8% more “goofy.”

“That ratio of smart to goofy is very favorable for dogs,” said lead researcher Kellan Carai. “It was one of the best ratios in the animal kingdom. We found the opposite effect for bunnies, for example.  They just look totally silly in glasses.”

Puppy Pictures Consume Too Much Bandwidth, Say Analysts

A joint study from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers and Level 3 Communications finds that pictures of cute puppies are taking up too much bandwidth.  "Puppy pics literally account for half the bandwidth used on our networks,“ said Level 3 spokesman Caesar Tompkins. "And the rate of growth is astounding.  Between Tumblr and Facebook alone we’re seeing exponential growth in dog photos.  If we don’t see a reduction soon, we’re going to have to throttle sites known to be the worst offenders.”

Analysts at the Pet Photo Research Center at the University of Texas in Austin question the results of the study, however.  "There’s no doubt that there are a lot of dog photos out there,“ said Prof. Ambrose Tilson, "but the fact that the report doesn’t mention cats at all makes me think there are political motivations at play here.”

It is worth noting that noted feline investor Dr. Willem T. Fluffykins sits on the board of ICANN.

TIP: Air Dry Your Dogs for Fewer Wrinkles

Everyone knows dogs can be extremely difficult to dry.  They often come out of the spin cycle totally full of wrinkles, which requires hours of careful steaming.  And who has time for that?   If you want that fresh-pressed look without all the hassle, fashion experts recommend air drying your dogs.

“Not only will they come out wrinkle-free, but air drying is actually fun,” writes fashion blogger Pia Alexander in her upcoming book, “The Debonair Doggie.”  She suggests a quick drive in the country with the windows down.
