Let’s face it – the average robot cat of the early ‘80s just didn’t cut the mustard. The sound effects were unrealistic, and the cuddle factor was notoriously low.
But the Roboto Neko Amigo, which hit store shelves in 1989, was a significant leap forward in consumer robotic cat technology. Featuring real angora fur and an advanced cuddle engagement system, the product raised the bar for the entire robo-pet industry.
Unfortunately, with a retail price tag of $1,599, Roboto Neko Amigo did not succeed commercially. But its influence is still felt today.

Cat Freed From Banister With Crisco
An area can was discovered with his head trapped upside-down in a staircase banister Wednesday afternoon.
Fortunately, thanks to a recent Paula Deen marathon on TV, there was plenty of Crisco in the house, which was used to grease the frightened kitty to safety.

Cat Attempts Self-Shot for New Facebook Profile Pic
In a bid to freshen up her Facebook profile after the rollout of “Timeline,” an area cat attempted to take a flattering photo of herself. Most humans know this is nearly impossible to do without looking contrived. But cats, inexperienced with smartphone cameras, have to learn somehow.
Witnesses report that the seven “likes” the cat received on her new photo are actually passive aggressive gestures by friends who feel threatened by her.
