Cat Demands Dramatic Lighting

Area cat, Slider, refuses to acknowledge anyone in the room until the lighting is just right.  "It’s getting ridiculous,“ says friend Anna Thompson.  "He acts like you’re not even there until the lighting is set… everything has to be dark and he has to be illuminated, like he’s conducting some kind of clandestine meeting from a movie.  It’s driving everyone nuts.”

Slider refused comment for this story because the bulb in the living room lamp went out, throwing off the entire mis-en-scene.

Local Cat Won’t Shut Up About New Sneakers

A cat named Meex is really excited about his new pair of Nike kicks – so much so that he licks them clean every night, takes them to bed, and won’t stop yammering  about how great they are.

“We get it, you really love your sneakers,” says Josh Skidmore, a source close to the situation. “But you can only hear about Spring Sole technology 12 times before it gets old, you know?”

Trend Alert: Kitten Throw Rugs

According to consumer data released by Amazon.com, year-over-year sales of kitten throw rugs are up 435%.  That’s a huge increase and has lead to a shortage of the popular feline floor coverings.  "We just can’t make them as fast as people are buying them,“ says Joe Latos, CEO of noted cat rug manufacturer Purrfect Weave, Inc. 

Though the shortage is likely to last just a couple of weeks, prices for the fluffy rugs are expected to rise sharply and stay high for the foreseeable future.
