Variety is reporting that an unheralded cat from El Segundo, CA has been awarded the coveted staring role in an upcoming biopic about the life of stage and film diva Bette Midler. The kitty, whose stage name is Mitsy, won the role after a nationwide search for the star.
“We initially thoughts we’d go more traditional, you know, with a human,” said casting director Anderson Parrish. "But when we heard Mitsy meow out the tune of ‘Wind Beneath My Wings,’ we knew we had to have her.“
