Cat’s Performance Art Misses the Mark

Critics were baffled this past weekend by the performance of a cat named Poppy. The kitty, who is a student at the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, performed her senior thesis piece, ‘Cat in a Bamboo Forest,’ in Tompkins Square Park all day on Saturday.

“I’m not really sure what she was going for,” said one on-looker of the cat’s performance. “She just sat perfectly still in a stand of bamboo for hours. I didn’t get it.”

Others called the performance “uneven” and “off the mark.” Still, professors indicated that she would likely receive high marks for her effort.

“Performance art is all about putting yourself out there and making a statement,” said one on her thesis committee. “Poppy maybe didn’t make the most clear connection with her audience, but she took a risk, and I admire that.”

Cat Star Has No Regrets Over Awkward Haircut

A Persian long-hair named Daisy (known on the Internet as “The Cutest Kitten in the World,” thanks to a photo shoot from her younger days) recently went bold with her choice of stylist.

“She needed a change of pace,” says Mark Meadows, Daisy’s publicist. “Her previous stylist was a little too traditional. It was time to mix it up.”

She went with Stephanie Goldfarb, ranked in Cat Spa magazine as the number one avant-garde beautician for felines.

“Her look is a little…odd, these days,” says Taylor Hogan, the president of Daisy’s fan club, which boasts more than 200,000 members online. “But, we still love her. I just keep reminding myself it will grow back.”

Kitten Still Learning to Tie Shoes

Leo, a two-month old kitten, has already learned a lot in his short life.

He’s learned that you never go near the vacuum. That the lady with the brown shoes is the one with the food. And he’s learned that scratching the chair is bad, even though it feels so, so right.

One thing he’s still trying to master, however, is tying shoes.

“He’s really determined to figure it out,” said Devin Amberg. “I’m not really sure why, since he doesn’t actually wear shoes, and he’s not particularly close, either. He mostly just bats at the laces. But so far, he hasn’t given up.”
