Daredevil Cat Photographed Mid-Leap

Maddie, a 5-year-old cat from Louisville, KY is known for performing death-defying stunts. While most of her epic leaps are for live audiences only, in a rare bid to boost her profile, Maddie allowed cameras to capture her “Kitchen Knife Jump” for the first time ever.

New York Plans to Privatize Cat Prisons

New York Plans to Privatize Cat Prisons

A plan currently up for vote in the New York State legislature would privatize the state’s two maximum security cat prisons.  The jails house some of the country’s most notorious feline criminals, including those brought up on serious federal charges such as fraud, interstate tuna smuggling, and racketeering.

Though the measure, which is seen as a cost-saving move, is expected to pass, there is some opposition.  "These kitties may be hardened criminals, but they’re people, too,“ said Rep. Owen Skagget, a democrat from Long Island.  "Studies show that private prisons are less safe for inmates, and I don’t think that’s a path we should be taking just to save a little kibble.”

City Kitty Finds Success in the Big Apple

Leaving your small town roots behind for the big city is at the heart of every New York story line. Darcy, a kitten from a Tulsa, OK suburb embodies that dream.

She came to Manhattan less than a year ago with nothing but a bus ticket and half a can of Fancy Feast. In that time, she’s worked her way up to 2nd Class Barista at a local coffee shop.

“If [she] can make it there, [she’ll] make it anywhere,” said Frank Sinatra in a completely unrelated context.

Rare Siberian Snow Cat Photographed in Sweden

Once presumed extinct by naturalists, the Siberian Snow Cat is now known to inhabit Northern Europe in small but agile populations. Photographing one in the wild is a monumental achievement in the scientific community.

That’s why the World Wildlife Fund is agog today after seeing the image above by an amateur photographer based in Sweden. The location and apparent health of this Snö Katt offers biologists a glimpse of the animals’ mysterious migration patterns.
