Senate-Seeking Cat Raises $6,000 for Animal Rescue Orgs
Hank, a cat from Springfield, VA, has run a vigorous campaign to get his name on the ballot for Senate this November. But he’s taken a break from his busy political schedule to raise money for charities close to his heart.
At a rally last week, Hank took photos with fans, held a raffle, and sold posters, T-shirts and cookies from the Sweet Ladies Bakery. 100% of the funds were donated to the Humane Society of Fairfax County.
According to a campaign press release, Hank has raised more than $6,000 for Virginia animal rescue organizations. You can visit his store for more Hank merch, where 100% of the proceeds go to the 4Paws Rescue Team.
Cat Refuses to Download Instagram, Uses Flickr Instead
Noted feline ophthalmologist Dr. Enrico Hazleton was brought it to see Opie, a three-year-old cat whose addiction to Flickr has caused a serious case of eyestrain. "Sitting that close to the monitor, scrolling through photos all day without any breaks would wreak havoc on anyone’s eyes,“ says Hazleton.
Unfortunate, according to friends, Opie won’t listen to the doc’s advice. "We can’t even get him to sign up for Instagram,” says one friend. “That cat is a Flickr loyalist until the day his eyes fall out of his head.

Kitty Hygiene Improves With Catnip Washcloths
A study from the National Institute of Health finds that washcloths soaked in a catnip solution encourages better hygienic habits in felines.
“They really snuggle those cloths hard,” says Dr. Wynonna Mack, a lead researcher for the NIH. “Getting cleaner is a nice side effect.”
