Kitten Wins Top Prize at Tri-County Quilting Bee
The annual Tri-County Quilting Bee has a new champion and it happens to be a 5-week-old kitten named Charlotte. Her achievement is remarkable for two reason: first, no cat has ever so much as placed at the Bee in its 72-year-history, second, she set the record for youngest winner, edging out the 9-week-old opossum that won last year.
“Charlotte must have been working on her technique since the moment she opened her eyes,” said Bee chairwomen Millicent Tanner. "Her patters may not be the most complex, and her themes are a bit juvenile, but her technique is flawless.“

Local Cat Checks Mailbox Every Day for Christmas Cards
It’s getting to be that time of year again, and a local cat named Sandy has been checking her mailbox every day for holiday cards from friends.
“Sandy loves Christmas, but he favorite part is the cards,” said Josie Tan, a source close to the situation. "She likes to gather them all up and string them along the outside of her litter box. It’s adorable… and also kind of gross.“
Sandy has yet to receive a card this year, but she’s hopeful that this will be the week she gets her first of the season.
