Images of deep space taken by even the most sophisticated orbital telescopes have long been plagued by artifacts that obstruct scientists’ view of the universe. Most of these artifacts are Space Cats.
Thankfully, recent breakthroughs in imaging software have enabled NASA to remove these cats from the most breathtaking photographs of the cosmos. Brant Widgeon, an astronomical image enhancement engineer at NASA, explains the work is a labor of love.
