ASPCA to Host Live #PuppyLove Twitter Party for Valentine’s Day

Are you ready to fall in love with some adorable, adoptable pets? The ASPCA is hosting a live Twitter party on Tuesday, February 12 at 6:00 pm EST where you can win prizes and meet some precious pups who will steal your heart — just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The event is co-hosted by @ASPCA, @TheFluffPo and @DogTipper, so follow those accounts and the hashtag #PuppyLove for all the action. Answer trivia questions on Twitter for a chance to win prizes every five minutes, and tune in to the live stream for a ’70s-style dating show featuring adoptable dogs.

Just Say No to Puppy Mills This Holiday Season

We like to joke around a lot at The Fluffington Post, but we’re all kinds of serious when it comes to treating animals well.  That’s why we’re happy to join the ASPCA in calling for an end to puppy mills.

If you’re planning to add a puppy to your family this holiday season, please consider adoption instead of purchasing one through a pet store.  And if you’re planning to buy gifts for the pets already in your life, please try not to purchase anything from pet stores that sell puppies from puppy mills.

Americans plan to spend more than $2.5 billion on pets this holiday season, according to recently released poll.  Unfortunately, more than half of pet shoppers say they would consider shopping at a store that also sells puppies — meaning a big chunk of that $2.5 billion could directly or indirectly support the puppy mill industry.

When you’re out shopping for your pets this month, make sure you’re shopping at stores that don’t use puppy mills.  And please like or reblog this post to help us spread this important message.

The Fluffington Post Teams Up With ASPCA for Limited Edition T-Shirt

The Fluffington Post has teamed up with the ASPCA to offer this limited edition Rosie the Retriever T-shirt. For every shirt sold, $3 goes toward finding loving homes for abandoned pets and stopping animal cruelty.

But we can’t create this special tee without your help. Unless we sell a minimum of 175 shirts, they simply won’t get printed, and puppies everywhere will cry. You don’t want a bunch of crying puppies on your hands, believe us.

This special piece of wearable art (created by the amazing illustrator Kiersten Essenpreis) will be screen printed on shirts made by Alternative Apparel — a company that prides itself on high-quality materials and sustainable business practices. This isn’t one of those “I’ll just wear it to bed” kind of T-shirts. It’s more of an “I’ll wear it to really cool parties and all my friends will be jealous” kind of T-shirt.
