Polar Bear Theme Park Hits Snag
by Scott Friedstein, FluffPo Correspondent
All Lars and Olaf wanted was their own theme park.
The enterprising polar bear twins had begun construction on the project, only to have it hampered by a fundamental lack of engineering knowledge.
"They didn’t really know how rides worked," says business partner and friend Anthony Malick. "The log ride was especially problematic - after they realized the mechanics involved, they kind of had to start from scratch."
Barring further delays, Polar Land is now expected to open sometime this fall.
"I can’t wait - and neither can our investors," says Malick. "It’s going to be a big success, though - assuming they get the controls for the Polar Coaster worked out."

Kitten Reaches Summit of Sofa, Immediately Naps
By Anna Washenko, FluffPo Correspondent
Ever since she was a kitten, Tabby has dreamed of being a mountain climber. Today she successfully completed a test run of the sofa in her living room.
"I’m really proud her," said climbing coach Elizabeth Waters. ”This is the tallest piece of furniture she’s climbed yet.”
Though the climb only took her about 7 minutes, the effort seemed to wipe her out, and the cat celebrated her victory over the heights by promptly napping on the top cushion. That doesn’t bode well for tackling any actual mountains.
"We still need to work on Tabby’s endurance," Waters admitted. "I’m not sure how she’ll fare in the thin mountain air."

Study: Baby Ducks Relieve Stress
by Scott Friedstein, FluffPo Correspondent
According to a study just released by Duke University, baby ducks can greatly reduce stress levels in those holding them.
"Stress is a constant in modern life," says head researcher David Burke. "Thankfully, so are baby ducks. We found that holding onto one for just a minute stimulates dopamine receptors and lowers blood pressure. It was a real surprise."
The study also suggests the addition of baby ducks where they’re perhaps needed the most — in the workplace.
"Work environments can be particularly stressful," says Burke. "Keeping one of these fuzzy little guys at your desk can help take the edge off and give you something cute to look at. It’s a win-win."
The findings will be published in next month’s American Journal of Medicine alongside a companion study citing hamsters as excellent mood stabilizers.

Panda Takes ‘Tree Hugger’ Too Literally
By Anna Washenko, FluffPo Correspondent
Eyewitnesses have confirmed to The Fluffington Post that for the past week, baby panda Chen has been seen tenderly embracing every tree that he comes across.
“I’ve always been impressed with how seriously he thinks about our natural resources; you should see how fastidious he is about picking up litter around the Bifengxia Panda Center,” Jin Liao, associate director of development at the center said via email. “I told Chen that the world would be a better place if there were more tree huggers like him. I just assumed he knew what the phrase meant.”
Friends and family haven’t decided whether or not to tell Chen that being a “tree hugger,” in the modern context, doesn’t actually involve literally hugging trees.
"On the one hand, he’s super adorable when he does it," said Liao. "On the other hand, he’s gotten stuck up in a tree four times this week, so it’s starting to become a nuisance."

Cat Fired from DMV for Sleeping on the Job
By Anna Washenko, FluffPo Correspondent
After five months on the job, Socks the cat was fired from his administrative position at the Chicago Department of Motor Vehicles for his tendency to doze off at his desk.
Office manager Jeni Meyer told The Fluffington Post that she had frequently noticed Socks conked out in his chair while the line at his window stretched out the door.
At first, Meyer was impressed by Socks’ dedication to the DMV’s policy of delaying the process of renewing licenses and updating vehicle registrations as much as possible. She actually proposed a  nap-based employee training program the Illinois Department of Transportation based on Socks’ work style, but it was rejected.
“Turns out we have strict standards for government employees,” Meyer said. “We’re supposed to make it unpleasant to be here, but we do need to remain conscious while on the clock. Hey, now we know!”
